About Audio-Visual Designs

Established in 1964 by Carl H. Sturner of Earlton, NY, Audio-Visual Designs originally focused on providing railroad post cards and reel to reel audio tapes of trains in action. That is where the “Audio” of our name came from.  The black and white All Pennsy Calendar featuring the photography of Don Wood was added to the product line in 1966 as a 6-page (two grids per photo page) long format calendar. It was so well received, the next year's calendar was a 12-page edition.  Soon after that, A-VD began providing quality custom printed material for railroads, museums, municipalities and organizations.

The product line expanded to include several books and holiday and birthday greeting cards.

We (Joe & Colleen Suo) purchased the business in 1997 and relocated it to the Mohawk Valley in Central New York continuing in the same fine tradition of supplying organizations, corporations and large and small businesses with high quality made-in-the-USA custom calendars, greeting cards and other publishing services. Joe has been a rail & photography enthusiast from his youth, so when this opportunity presented itself, we thought it would be a great fit!

Our most well-known retail product is the All Pennsy Calendar — which still features classic black and white views of the Pennsylvania Railroad by a variety of photographers both professional and amateur.

If your business or organization is interested in any of our custom publishing services, please contact us for a price quote.

In 2025 we’ve partnered with long-time customers and small business owners in the travel field, Dawn & Anthony Androsky of globaltravitude.com in order to promote both our businesses. If you are interested in train (or other) travel in the US or abroad, please contact them ~ we’re confident they will be a help to you.

We look forward to filling your order!
